Bex' Mission

I have long been a passionate advocate for children and educators, and a champion for the arts in education. I am committed to supporting the school board’s vision, and helping them develop that vision into long-term solutions that produce skillful, innovative students and successful graduates. As the needs of our community expand and move forward, our dedication to the children of Wimberley and their education must move with it. I’m committed to building bridges in large and small ways, and look to encourage that sense of unity in our children and school system.

Bex' Essence

I enjoy giving back in different ways that encourage me to learn more and lead by example: I served on the board for Goodwill Industries; as the Vice President for the Abilene Downtown Association; as a KIVA Ambassador, funding 48 micro loans to entrepreneurs in 29 countries; and as a fundraiser for the Center for Contemporary Arts. I value open communication and being objective in the face of adversity, and always search for common ground with those around me. I want to take my positive outlook and strong work ethic and use them to help our school district shine.

Bex' Promise

I believe a healthy community requires commitment to a positive shared vision for all its members, and the best place to start is with our children. I have a deep respect for our current school board and all they’ve accomplished, and hope to add my distinct voice and spirit to their ensemble.

Bex' Vibe

I’m passionate about putting a greater emphasis on music and arts in our schools, which is a benefit to children of all ages in numerous ways, such as motor skills, language development, and creative problem-solving. Art is not merely expressive, it is cognitive. The research on brain development in children has shown that art integration supports the intellectual growth of the whole child through broad learning opportunities. Kids strengthen critical and complex forms of thinking through the arts with multiple brain areas involved. I believe expanding the arts in education supports a well-rounded student, which will lead to greater success down the road for our children.
